As many of you are aware, I am a passionate advocate for accessible education and have spent 17 years dedicating my life to teach and support students with diverse learning needs. My career began as a Special Education teacher, instructing students with both Moderate to Severe Disabilities and Learning and Behavior Disorders in the classroom setting. I have worked at the District level, as a Low Incidence Resource teacher, providing programming supports to students and teachers all over JCPS (Jefferson County Public Schools). Currently, I am a Special Education Coordinator at Shacklette Elementary, ensuring my school stays in compliance with the Federal Law while providing a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), to students with disabilities. My work focuses on developing Individual Education Programs (IEP's), collaborating with educators and families, and providing professional development to staff to ensure they are equipped with the tools necessary to support all learners.

My passion lies in creating inclusive and equitable learning environments where every child has the opportunity to thrive academically and socially. I believe that every student deserves a tailored approach to education that recognizes their unique strengths and challenges. I am committed to enhancing the quality of education for students with disabilities, not only in my home state of Kentucky, but all over the world. Our life's calling is where our talents meet the needs of the world, and I have been given the opportunity to travel to Egbe, Nigeria this summer to serve communities in need, support local teachers through professional development, and bring hope to children and families. Our team will be working alongside CARE Africa to strengthen education, provide mentorship, and share God’s love in the most meaningful, practical ways.
